Shrewd Productions is committed to creating theatre that is well-produced, thoughtful, provocative, and entertaining; concentrating on women's voices, new plays, and work developed though a collaborative artistic approach.
Shrewd's past productions include the original rock musical Io: a myth about you by founding Shrewd, Monika Bustamante - nominated for 4 Austin Critics’ Table Awards including Best Production of a Musical and Best New Play; Where Are They Now? A Fantasy Based on a True Crime, by Cyndi Williams - a collaborative, commissioned piece that garnered 6 Austin Critics’ Table nominations and took home the Award for Best Production of a Drama; the world premiere of Stillborn: a bedtime story; the annual favorite, X-mas Unwrapped: A Holiday Burlesque; Cheater, a collaboration involving 10 playwrights from Austin and beyond; Trash Anthems, a collection of the short works of playwright Dan Dietz; and Kidnapped by Craigslist, a co-production with New York based playwright Katie Goan that played to sold-out houses and critical acclaim this past summer.
Shrewd is: Producing Artistic Director, Shannon Grounds and Co-Artistic Director, T. Lynn Mikeska; Company Members: Jerry Joe Benson, Monika Bustamante, Shawn Ferrell, Kathleen Fletcher, Jason Hays, Jude Hickey, Anne Hulsman, Melissa Livingston, and Valerie Redd; and Advisory Board Members: Christopher Dove, Christina J.
