Shrewd Productions 2019 Season - Hope & Healing

Now, more than ever, Shrewd's mission of supporting women's voices and new work is critically important.  For our 14th-year anniversary, we are celebrating our roots as a company with 3 fantastic theatrical events, featuring the work of extraordinary artists like Charly Evon Simpson, Megan Gogerty, Siobhan O'Laughlin, and many more!

This season, we focus on hope and healing - the healing we find in sharing our laughter, sharing our pain, and connecting to one another.

It's a lot of good work, and we're counting on your support to make this wonderful season a reality!  Please click here to support our mission!

Lady Macbeth and Her Pal Megan

A Comedy by Megan Gogerty

Directed by Shannon Grounds

Starring Eva McQuade

“Megan, Lady Macbeth is a tragic figure of powerful darkness, and you are the human equivalent of a golden retriever.”

When a comedian is informed that she can’t play Lady Macbeth, she sets out to prove everyone wrong, only to discover that not only must she reevaluate her preconceptions of Lady Macbeth, she must reconsider herself as both a woman and as a standup comedian.

Starring Austin's own Eva McQuade as Megan, and directed by Shrewd Artistic Director Shannon Grounds, Lady Macbeth and Her Pal Megan explores the question:  “What’s it like to be a woman comedian?” Spoiler: it’s murder.

Jump

Jump

An NNPN Rolling World Premiere
by Charly Evon Simpson

Directed by Shannon Grounds

Jump is about flickering lights, vapes that fall from the sky, old homes, and a young woman who finds solace on a bridge.

At once heartbreaking, hilarious, and hopeful, Jump is about the connections we share - with family, with friends, with strangers - the connections that bind us together and heal us.  Jump is produced by Shrewd Productions as a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. Other partnering theaters are PlayMakers Repertory Company (Chapel Hill),  Confrontation Theatre and Milago (Portland), and Actor’s Express (Atlanta) with support from the David Goldman Fund for New American Plays.  For more information, please visit nnpn.org.
