Meet Carolina - Yesenia Garcia Herrington!
Yesenia Garcia Herrington plays Carolina in the NNPN rolling world premiere of Stephanie Alison Walker's THE MADRES for Shrewd Productions.
A message from Yesenia
I am excited to participate in this National New Play Network rolling world premiere of The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker. Although the play takes place in 1978, one can draw many universal parallels to situations and events that are happening now in various parts of the world. I am grateful to Ms. Walker for telling a story that puts Latinx artists on the stage. I was initially drawn to the bold and fierce quality of the character of Carolina as she reminded me of the legacy of strong Latinas in my own family. It was the challenge of conveying her heart-breaking vulnerability that made me yearn for the opportunity to bring her to life. I want to thank our fearless director Lily Wolff and producer Shannon Grounds of Shrewd Productions for placing their trust in me to tell this story. I highly encourage you to spend a night at the theatre to transport yourselves with The Madres! #representationmatters
